Big Lighted Fountain at Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

This facility is a good example of updating a fountain technology, as it is the rehabilitation of the big musical Illuminated Fountain carried out in 1973 under the project of Emilio Carretero Alba.

It is the lighted fountain of larger dimensions existing in Spain, with the exception of the Great Lighted Fountain at Montjuich, and it marked at the time of its opening a technological breakthrough in the transition process from the fountain that combines water-colors-music, to the genuine integration of the three systems in our Aquatic Ballet Shows.

The conversion of Lighted Fountain in Aquatic Ballet took place in 1995, and since then this monumental fountain remains as an important landmark and attraction of great importance for the city of Las Palmas.

The Big Lighted Fountain represents an important icon of how a public space has adapted to the challenges of sustainability through technology update: from the illumination to the operation, even when back in the 70´s its design and development were very remarkable.

At this square, light, music and water are good companions for making an enlivening city, to inhabit in the public spaces enjoying the night without fear of the dark.
